Stefania Pia's "Someday I'll Find You" at EVA New York

Last night marked the unveiling of Stefania Pia's monthlong jewelry and art exhibition entitled "Someday I'll Find You." Stefania's collection of found-objects suspended from vintage textile strips now hang throughout the store- on the mannequins, on greenery-framed patchwork tapestries and from clusters of wool -wrapped tree branches. Also included in the exhibition were several of Stefania's collages, similar in style to her necklaces, with a combination of found materials mixed with fluorescent paint. Brian McPeck and MattMcAuley of TV Baby provided the sound for the night with a live sound performance entitled "Object Spirit."

BACK IN! TOM TOM JEWELRY

TOMTOM is back in stock at EVA! Launched by Elena Coleman in the Fall of 2008, this New York-born jewelry line is the result of Coleman's background as a formally-trained architect, and it shows. Fusing together traditional techniques from jewelry design and architecture gives TOMTOM a look that manages to be sleek and funky at the same time. All pieces pictured (and much more!) are available in store and online.

LE NEED: AKASAKA PRESENTS "LE BLOB"

Better known for his furniture design, Fernando Akaska has moved to a smaller scale to work with metals and jewelry construction. Organic and amorphous shapes create a variety of pieces in this collection by the Sao Paolo native, with many of the structures heavily based on natural forms such as bones and claws.

Quality metals are used throughout this collection, and Akasaka incorporates 95% sterling silver in to each piece. The selection at EVA includes miniature claw earrings with intricate markings and concavities that cover the surface. Thin bracelets with a similar surface treatment wrap the wrist in sculpture and unrepeated shapes.

                      

A ring is created from panels of thin mental welded into a circle. Segments of metal are assembled in decreasing length from the middle out, creating the illusion of a spinal cord.  The ring has a shimmer to it that is similar to a shell or precious stone.
